Record-breaking interest in jubilee career fair

140 exhibitors and approximately 1,500 students attended the career fair Karriärum at the School of Engineering (JTH) at Jönköping University (JU) on 8 November.

“This is a great fair, which sparks new ideas and inspiration. I think all visitors to the fair think the same,” says Isagel Josefsson, who met her employer Qtech Group at last year's Karriärum.

Karriärum celebrated its tenth anniversary this year and had more exhibitors than ever. The fair has gone from around 30 companies the first year, in 2013, to 140 this year, which was 20 more than last year's record.

One of the companies that has participated at the fair from the start is Combitech and Adina Valjakka, team leader and software developer at the company, was one of many JTH alumni at this year’s fair.

"This is how we find our future colleagues"

“It is obvious why we have been here every year; it is to get hold of students. What more could you wish for, this is how we find our future colleagues,” says Adina Valjakka, who studied Computer Engineering: Embedded Systems at JTH.

This summer, Isagel Josefsson graduated from the master's programme Production Engineering and Management at JTH and the day before graduation she was offered a permanent job at Qtech Group in Anderstorp.

“When attending Karriärum, I think that the dream is that you will meet a company that you want to work for and that the meeting actually leads to a job. It feels fantastic that it turned out that way for me. Qtech are progressive and I want to be involved in developing their business," says Isagel Josefsson.

"It's a given to be at Karriärum"

Rickard Malmberg, recruiter at Husqvarna Group, emphasizes that it is a given för them to be at Karriärum as a local partner to the School of Engineering.

“We want people who study at the school to join our business. The students who come to us are interested, competent, and ask relevant questions, which really challenges our engineers,” says Rickard Malmberg.

Contact persons for Karriärum are Linda Bergqvist and LisaBeth Sundström, External Relations Manager and Project Manager at JTH.
