Infrastructure and economic growth

Three well-known professors in the subject of regional development will gather in Jönköping on 3 October. Organizing the event is the research project TTP at Jönköping International Business School.

The seminar will be held at the exhibition centre Elmia, on the day before the two large trade fairs Elmia Future Transport and Elmia Nordic Rail. Professors TR Lakshmanan of Boston University, Paul Cheshire from London School of Economics and Börje Johansson from Jönköping International Business School will talk about different aspects of infrastructure, and the day ends with a panel discussion with the additional participation of Sören Belin, former CEO of Green Cargo, and Anders Lundberg, Senior Consultant at Vectura.

The TTP project (abbreviated from the Swedish words for Accessibility, Growth, and Planning) is conducted at Jönköping International Business School, where researchers have developed an economic model called DYNLOK (Dynamic localization model). The model has been adapted to show how increased accessibility may affect employment, economic growth, housing etc.

The DYNLOK model is a fundamental prerequisite for the TTP Project. Another crucial point is to use case studies to test and use the model on the planned improvement of physical accessibility.

The TTP project is run in cooperation with Östsam, the Regional Council of Jönköping County, Sjuhärad municipality, the Swedish Agency for Economic and Regional Growth and the Swedish Transport Administration.
