Research

Kath is working on research in the areas of learning health systems, co-production of care, faculty development, and the use of realist methods to support health services research. As a post-doctoral fellow in Canada, she is supporting the development of a graduate program of learning in improvement science at the University of Saskatchewan.

Biography

Originally a physical therapist, Kath has worked in health care improvement since 2004, when she joined the Health Quality Council (HQC) in Saskatchewan, Canada. In her time with HQC, Kath developed a passion for teaching and learning about collaboration and quality improvement in health sciences programs. In 2009, she moved to Jönköping to pursue a doctoral degree focused on faculty perspectives in teaching improvement and interprofessional collaborative practice. A mother to a child with intensive needs, Kath is committed to advancing research that supports co-production with patients, families, and communities. On moving back to Canada, Kath maintained a relationship with JU, continuing to teach and is currently an affiliated researcher with the Jönköping Academy for Improvement of Health and Welfare and the School of Health and Welfare.

Kath holds a B.A. Honours in English (1996), a B.Sc. in Physical Therapy (1999), and a M.Sc. in Community Health and Epidemiology (2003), all from the University of Saskatchewan in Canada and a PhD in Quality Improvement and Leadership in Health and Welfare (2024) from Jönköping University.
