Fyery Adhena Abreha

MMTC Doctoral Candidate

Research focus

Fyery Adhena Abreha’s research explores how the hybridity of organizations influences legitimacy, with a focus on religious hybrid organizations in emerging economies. Her dissertation examines how tensions between multiple institutional logics are reflected in legitimacy challenges—both internal and external—and how these challenges are managed. Using qualitative methods, she aims to generate insights that contribute to both organizational theory and practice, particularly concerning the survival and sustainability of hybrid organizations.

Academic background

Fyery holds a bachelor’s degree in Management from Bahir Dar University and a master’s degree in Business Administration from Addis Ababa University, Ethiopia. Prior to joining JIBS, she worked as a lecturer at several universities in Ethiopia, including Mekelle University and Bahir Dar University, and held part-time teaching positions at Addis Ababa University School of Commerce and other institutions. Contribution to society

Her research contributes to understanding how organizations experiencing internal contradictions can manage legitimacy in ways that support long-term success.
