Research
At MMTC, we strive to conduct high-quality research meaningful to practice and policy.
The Media, Management and Transformation Centre (MMTC) at Jönköping International Business School (JIBS) is a hub for high-quality, interdisciplinary research that addresses current societal, technological, and economic challenges. Our research brings together scholars across disciplines—business administration, economics, communication, media studies, sociology, and more—to explore how digitalisation, sustainability, innovation, and inclusivity shape business and society.
MMTC’s Core Research Areas
Our work is structured around six intersecting themes that reflect current global transformations:
- Legacy and Digital Media
Examining how traditional and emerging media systems adapt, transform, and co-exist in a digital landscape. - Sustainability
Investigating sustainable business models, green innovation, circular value chains, and responsible consumption. - Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI)
Exploring inclusive leadership, organisational hybridity, legitimacy, and equitable transformation in both public and private sectors. - Digital Business and Innovation
Focusing on AI, platform strategies, servitisation, digital transformation, and entrepreneurial ecosystems. - Esports and Gaming
Studying the economic, cultural, and technological dynamics of the fast-growing esports and gaming industries. - Municipal Corporations
Analysing governance, accountability, and innovation within publicly owned enterprises and local government networks.
Collaborative and Applied Research
MMTC researchers actively collaborate with industry, public organisations, and international partners. Ongoing projects—many of them co-funded by national and EU agencies—combine academic excellence with practical relevance. Research is often conducted using interactive approaches and in close dialogue with practitioners, policy makers, and users.
